A preliminary report from Finnish health officials today said the link between narcolepsy in children and the Pandemrix 2009 H1N1 vaccine appears to be real, but more study is needed to explore the possible role of other factors.
The investigators from Finland’s National Narcolepsy Task Force found a ninefold increase of narcolepsy in children and young adults ages 4 to 19 who received the vaccine compared with their unvaccinated peers, according to a press release from the country’s National Institute for Health and Welfare. They said the effect was most pronounced in those ages 5 to 15. They didn’t find a link in those under age 4 or over 19.
They based their findings on discharge data from patients who were hospitalized with narcolepsy during 2009 and 2010. They used primary care records to gather data on pandemic vaccination.
Narcolepsy was reported in 60 Finnish children and adolescents in 2009 and 2010. A panel of neurologists and sleep researchers reviewed their records. Of those with narcolepsy, 52 (nearly 90%) had received the Pandemrix vaccine. Vaccine coverage for the entire group was 70%.
Finland’s vaccine adverse event registry received through Jan 24 of this year 56 reports of narcolepsy in those who received Pandemrix. All but two were in the 4-to-19 age-group. In most cases, narcolepsy symptoms started about 2 months after vaccination.

For years now natural health practitioners have been stating that there are a large number of side effects from Vaccines. The flu vaccine can be of a particular danger in my opinion due to the fact that they are rushed into production every year in order to be ready in time for flu season. They are never fully tested as would be most full vaccines or they would not be ready in time to administer prior to flu season.
There is always a big rush on to get a vaccine prepared and out to be distributed in time for flu season. The issue can also be compounded as flu season varies from country to country. In most of the northern hemisphere flu season runs in the late winter months. There are some early cases starting around September and in fact all year long, the majority of cases however come in the late fall and early winter.

“The observed association is so evident that it is unlikely that other so-called confounding factors could fully explain the phenomenon,” the group said in a press release.
Reports of a possible narcolepsy link to the Pandemrix vaccine in Finland and Sweden came to light in August 2010. The following month Swedish regulators issued a preliminary report finding no link between immunization and the condition.

Among other countries that used Pandemrix, increased numbers of narcolepsy cases were seen only in Finland, Sweden, and Iceland, the Finnish investigators noted. However, Iceland also found a greater-than-expected number of narcolepsy cases in unvaccinated children and teens.
Further investigations will explore infections or other factors that occurred in the children around the time they receive the pandemic vaccine. The group said they would explore a range of possible epidemiologic, immunologic, and genetic factors that could contribute to the development of narcolepsy. Specifically, studies will be conducted to detect if children with a genetic disposition to the condition or those who got sick varied in their response to different components of the Pandemrix vaccine.
The group said it would release its final report by Aug 31.
In August 2010 Europe’s drug regulatory agency, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), launched its own review of the narcolepsy reports in Finnish children vaccinated with Pandemrix, which it expected would take several months to complete. In September a panel from the group said there was no need to restrict the vaccine’s use and that benefit-risk balance continued to be positive.
GlaxoSmithKline, the maker of Pandemrix, said in a statement today that it is reviewing the task force report, but said it is premature to draw any conclusions about any possible link between the vaccine and narcolepsy until the EMA completes its investigation.
The company said it has been working closely with the EMA and other groups to better understand the reports.
More than 31 million doses of Pandemrix have been administered in 47 countries, Glaxo said. As of yesterday the company had received 162 reports of narcolepsy in people who have been vaccinated. Seventy percent were from Sweden and Finland.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said in a release today that it was aware of the preliminary report from Finnish health officials and agrees that further study is needed. It said its Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety is considering all available data on the increased narcolepsy reports and will issue a statement within the coming days.
“Recommendations for the use of seasonal 2010/2011 influenza vaccines in children and adolescents remain unchanged,” the WHO added.

The Narcolepsy findings were also reported in Australia last year. There were several children under the age of five that were having trouble after receiving the Swine Flu Vaccine as well. With the trouble that they were having in Australia the government there ceased recommendations that children under the age of 5 receive the H1N1 vaccine.
With all the secrecy surrounding the vaccine industry it is difficult to affirm how many actual cases of narcolepsy there may be worldwide. Only a few governments will allow that information to be released.
There is also no telling how many of those hospitalized with the flu have received the flu vaccine as well. Last year it was accidentally reported that nearly 70 percent of those hospitalized at one point had already been vaccinated for H1N1. If that is true it can make you wonder, Is it worthwhile?

Is the UK the Center of the H1N1 Universe?

It has been a big year for Swine (H1N1) flu in Great Britain this year. Why the large outbreaks and mass numbers of people being hospitalized. They also refuse to release the numbers of those still sick that actually received the flu jab. There is a good reason for that. If those numbers were regularly reported, as they should be, many people would see how ineffective the vaccination for the flu really is and stop taking the shot year after year.
There has been at least one confirmed death in the UK that is known to have been given the flu jab. Last year in the eastern US there was a hospital that released data by accident I am certain, showing that 70 percent of those with H1N1 had been given the flu shot. Again, if this vaccine is so ineffective why are they pushing it so hard on those of us just trying to stay healthy?
I feel that the biggest reason for the large number of people that are getting hospitalized with the flu this year is a lack of vitamin D. Vitamin D is known to attack all manner of virus bacterial infections. The best source for getting vitamin D is from sunshine; your body will make optimal amounts for you if you get the proper amount of sunshine. This does not mean going out and getting roasted, but safe amounts of sunshine will do so much for your immune system and keep you healthy.
The second reason that I think more people are hospitalized is the rates of obesity. All diseases will attack those that are overweight. The extra weight makes your immune system weak. Extra weight gives your body so many other things to work on. The repair system in your body, of which your immune system is a part, is working to restore all of the damage done to your body by moving around far more mass than your body was designed to carry. All of the extra work leaves little time for your immune system to protect you from the new viruses that your body has not already developed immunity to.
Lastly, I feel that diet plays a large part in why so many get sick each year. A link has already been shown between cancer and high fat sugary foods. Not just any fats, but the truly unhealthy kinds of fats you will find in your prepackaged grocery store foods. On the other hand you could start getting a lot of good saturated fats from fresh coconut milk; this has been shown to have anti-viral properties. A healthy well balanced diet will do much to attack the H1N1 virus and help to keep you healthy all year round.
So if you are looking to stay out of the hospital and stay healthy this winter, make sure that you get plenty of sunshine, work at keeping your weight balanced, and eat better foods. Also the standards of washing your hands, forget the anti bacterial soaps and stick to normal soap, and stay away from places where there are large crowds. Also be sure to wash you fruits and vegetables well as the virus could be lurking there from those that have been handling your food before you. And if you do get the flu, stay away from others, wash your hands, get plenty of sleep and lots of sunshine.

Azerbaijan Confirms N1H1 Outbreak

Sunday, December 5th, 2010

Even though the World Health Organization gave the official declaration that the global pandemic of H1N1 had finally ended, there was a confirmed case in Azerbaijan. You can read more about that here.

This begs the question however, if the Pandemic has been declared ended, Why is the world still including the virus antibodies in the seasonal flu shot?

There will always be an occasional person picking up a virus to which they have never been exposed but is this any reason to inoculate everyone for the virus?

Swine Flu and Narcolepsy

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Looks to be another issue arising with the formerly highly recommended swine flu vaccine- wait, did I say formerly? No, I didn’t mean it or maybe that’s personal bias coming through. Yup that’s what it is!

The European Medicines Agency has begun a review and investigation into Pandemrix which is the fancy smancy name for the swine flu vaccine. Looks to be causing some good ol’ fashioned side effects, which happen to be serious.  Nope sure isn’t frequent urinating or even rashes. How about sleeping! Perhaps this could be the next wave of sleeping pills.

Okay, wise ass comments aside Europe is finding that perhaps the latest version of swine flu might be bringing on Narcolepsy which is a condition where a person randomly and suddenly FALLS ASLEEP! Yes, could be driving and falls asleep, could be walking the family dog and falls asleep, along with a variety of other activities.

Sweden also has begun investigation when reports are many young people were developing symptoms consistent narcolepsy after getting shot.

A British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline produces these vaccines about thirty point eight billion people have gotten the vaccine.

Reports are also saying that Australia is banning the vaccine for children five years and younger. Across the globe there are some pull backs. Yet many countries, even those that have opened investigations with the vaccine are still encouraging folks to get the swine flu vaccine along with the common flu vaccine.
